Store Reflects Recovery In Area by Bill Baldowski

Camp Creek Parkway resident Rachel Brewster walked into the new Super Beauty store at Greenbriar Mallm and immediately stopped in her tracks. She glanced around and began to go down one aisle before turning around and starting down another and then a third.

“There is so much here, it’s pretty well overwhelming,” she said. “It pretty well blows me away.”

That has been the general consensus of customers visiting Super Beauty, Greenbriar’s newest tenant, which recently opened inside the 35,000 square-foot, free-standing building which formally held the Circuit City store. The building has been vacant since Circuit City closed in 2008.

According to Bobby Scott, the store manager, this is the first Super Beauty to open outside Florida, where the company has five locations around Orlando. He said store officials were impressed by the revitalization of Greenbriar, including reopening of the former Magic Johnson Theater as the Revolution Cinemas and the mall avoiding foreclosure due to new foreign investment.

Scott also said the commercial economic development on the southside, such as that in and around Greenbriar with the grand opening of the new Revolution Cinemas and the second phase of the Camp Creek Marketplace development, is a reflection of a strong residential base that has begun to reappear in the area.

“People are starting to purchase homes again in this area, despite the southside economy, and the country’s economic situation,” he said.

“Super Beauty wanted something on the southside, and with the strong support of the Greenbriar Mall management and support of the community, we have really enjoyed our being in this area and look for a long partnership with Greenbriar and the southside.” Scott said.

Scott added that, with the store being at Greenbriar and most of their 40 employees coming from south Atlanta, “we are proud in our efforts to put Georgians back to work.”
